Designing High Quality Architectures

This paper presents a quality-driven software architecture design method. The method produces architectural descriptions at two levels of abstraction. Both the levels are described using four similarly named views: structural, behavior, deployment and development. More importantly, the method enables the realization of quality attributes by means of quality requirements and quality scope, which leads to the selection and localization of architectural styles and patterns. Quality attributes can be traced from the quality requirement definitions to architectural descriptions, wherein each of the views concerns certain quality attributes.
